Well, I nearly made it

If you read last week's update then you'll know I was attempting to paint about 1100 or so points of Tyranids in roughly a week. (If not, go ahead and read it, I'll wait...) I knew it would be quite a challenge, but I needed the challenge to get moving. It's good to stretch yourself once in a while, to see what you can really do. It's also good to push yourself to get stuff done. Sure, you say you work well under pressure, but isn't it sometimes more like you work ONLY under pressure? :) I think that would have been the case here if I had not done this. With a large amount of work to do and a lot of Life getting in the way, sometimes things just don't get done unless you really put your mind to them.

I originally had a plan to do a bit each day, to keep my momentum going. However, Life got in the way (doesn't it always?) and I fell off the painting wagon for a few days. I managed to get by with a little help from my friends, however. Well, specifically Janice. She's a friend that has done some 40k stuff with me and helped me do some of the painting on my Chaos Knights. She asked if she could come and help paint the Tyranids, and I jumped at the chance. (Someone asking to paint, what's up with that?) So, she helped me get a few extra Tyranids done, which was enough to give me a fighting chance. That, and cramming almost an all-nighter in to finish up got me most of the way there.

I didn't get everything finished, but I got more than just a significant start to it. I got all the various bitz put together, despite having both Venomfexes pull off their bases multiple times and actually knocking one off my desk after it had been fully assembled and glued. (I believe I used some colorful language there.) I got them all base coated and flocked, added the trim color and wash/shading to each of them. Unfortunately, at the last minute I realized that I cannot find my Jade Green paint to do the final details with. I'll have to pick some up at the store, but I've gotten momentum on the army now and the detail bitz should be something I can do in 10-15 minute segments every day, so that'll be easy enough to finish up.

They look a bit more threatening now, eh?
