Greetings from the Zensunni Empire
You
all know that Chaos Mike was my first regular 40k partner. We actually originally discussed having a
website together, but he was very busy at the time and I saw an opportunity and
so you have this site here. Since we’d
discussed having a website together, it seemed only natural to invite him to
write a few articles for the site as well.
Mike has some good things to share about 40k, and some unique insights
as well. With no further ado… A Greeting from Chaos Mike
Charles has asked me to do an article for him and I thought, what the heck? My name is Mike, and yes, I am the Chaos Mike Charles keeps referring to. He got me started in this game with a sample game where I played DE and he played Tyranids. Somehow I won that first game and was hooked ever since, even though it took me about 30-40 games to win again. In that time I tried lots of armies and learned lots of tactics from playing Charles. If you ever want to get good, play Charles for 50 games straight, you will have to get better to save your ego.
The army I play is Chaos (no surprise there). There are lots of reasons I picked this army. The first was I learned that I needed an army that was forgiving of my early mistakes, and a 3+ armor save helps in that area. Second, I didn't want to play a very popular army, and that cut out space marines (you can't go to a game store without tripping over one). Third, I wanted an army I could get into and be enthused to play even after losing over and over again. Boy could I get into Chaos. I even had the evil laugh down. :)
With the new codex, Chaos is more chaotic than ever. There is more variety, more flexibility, and more fluff. On the downside, you do pay for that variety and flexibility in unit cost, so watch what you are getting and don't go wild on the daemon gifts and veteran skills. But it does allow you to play some unique armies. Want to play a Blood Angel army that went over to the dark side? Or Space Wolves? You can now do that. For that matter you can play just vanilla marines that broke away from the empire, no marks, no daemons, no gifts, just straight marines. (But that's another whole article.)
Hopefully, Charles will let me write a few more articles so I can further spread the word of Chaos and convert more of you to the cause. If you enjoyed this, email me and let me know |
