Dark Eldar Based on what I understood about their fragility and combat prowess, I decided it would be best to start with my Dark Eldar as a shooting army. They could get 2 heavy weapons and 2 special weapons in each inexpensive squad, and I took a cheap Haemonculus as my HQ to save points for more Troops and heavy weapons. Later, I added some close combat elements to the army. I never really focused on full close combat, but as an adjunct to shooting. The Heavy and special weapons could put a dent in an enemy unit, then the Sybarite in each squad could clean up. Raider transports allowed me to suddenly concentrate on one part of the enemy army, then blast them with my weapons and shatter them in close combat. While the Air Force idea was my primary version of the Dark Eldar army, I did experiment with some versions of a webway portal army. In fact, my first real experiment with it was in a 3-way battle with Mike and Keil. I started with only a Haemonculus on a Skyboard with the portal on the board, the rest of my 1000pt army was in the webway. This freaked out Mike and Keil so much that the Space Marines and Chaos Marines declared a truce until my units were gone. That said, they moved up and I hid for a turn before opening the portal. By waiting to open the portal, my whole army came out that turn. By the beginning of my next turn, I had only a few models left, but in that turn they did about 500pts of damage to the Chaos Marine army and about 600pts of damage to the Space Marine army. Scary indeed! If you enjoyed this, email me and let me know |
