DeathWing I initially had a really whacked-out vision of my new army. I would use the small number of models to not only improve my painting skills, but to go all-out with conversions. I wanted to base them on Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band from the Beatle's Movie, "Yellow Submarine." Eventually, I realized that was too much work, and too ambitious for me. I looked through some pictures of various Space Marine chapters, and I decided I liked the Doom Eagles paint scheme. The first version of my DeathWing army used 3 squads all transported in LandRaiders. It was primarily an assault army, relying on the resilience of the Terminators and LandRaiders and on the shock value of being able to put my entire army in a very small point in the enemy army, concentrating a lot of force in a small area. The last version of this army went the opposite direction. I put as many boots on the ground as possible with no LandRaiders for support. Instead, they took Cyclone Missile Launchers and shot the enemy as they strode forward into Close Combat. The newest iteration of my DeathWing army is going back to the Mechanized version, though I'll be playing them as a Water Army, rather than a Fire Army like I used to do. (More shooting and maneuvering and tactical play, less cramming them down the throat of the enemy.) I chose a simple paintscheme with some details and made it very clean so that I could get the army on the board sooner. If you enjoyed this, email me and let me know |
